This might be a port from iOS, but it certainly doesn’t feel like one. I love being able to sit back feet from my television, and make my way through the puzzles of Lumino City. The simple point and click controls work flawlessly with the Siri Remote in a way they simple cannot on an iPhone. One of the things I really like about playing games on the Apple TV is the fact that my fingers don’t get in the way the way they do on a touch screen, and Lumino City highlights that.
I’ve only scratched the surface of Lumino City on the Apple TV, but it’s remarkable how simple the controls are. The handmade graphics, crafted from paper, cardboard, miniature lights, and motors, look stunning on my HDTV. State of Play Games must think the same, because they’ve recently unleashed Lumino City on the big screen by way of the new App Store on the Apple TV.
When Christine Chan reviewed Lumino City and pointed out that “the graphics are stunning,” I took a look and knew this game had the visual appeal to be gorgeous on the Apple TV. Some games work quite well on the iPhone and iPad, but you can tell when you first look at them that they’d be perfectly suited to a big screen television.
